Richards-Zeta, Recipient of the Frost & Sullivan 2005 Customer Value Enhancement Award

San Antonio, TX- July 21, 2005 – Frost & Sullivan today announced that Richards-Zeta Building Intelligence, Inc. is the recipient of the 2005 Customer Value Enhancement (CVE) Award. The CVE Award is presented each year to the company that has best demonstrated the ability to expand the customer base, while concurrently maintaining its existing installed base and offering more innovative value creation and enhancement strategies than competing vendors. This Award recognizes the company’s successful sales entry, customer acquisition and service strategies, and the degree to which those strategies have met customers’ stated needs and requirements.

Frost & Sullivan’s analysts recognized Richards-Zeta for brilliantly blending the ideologies of continuous quality improvement and learning to create a compelling case for winning through technology enhancement. Richards-Zeta cuts right to the core of what differentiates winners from losers in an endeavor to provide superior customer value. At a time when the forces of globalization, consolidation and misinformation are inducing companies to lose their perspectives and focus too much on issues such as competitive pricing and discussions on what constitutes “open” protocols, Richards-Zeta is reminding the building automation industry that customer value is the single most important aspect for business survival.

The building automation industry has for a long time been discussing what end-users can expect of “open” protocols, but few, if any of these promises have been forthcoming. In summary the ‘tried and true’ giants of building automation manufacturers have not embraced the IT standards for building automation networks. However, with a vision to drive the building automation industry to a higher level, Richards-Zeta introduced a comprehensive line of controls and infrastructure that can integrate building systems to the IT standards employed worldwide of IP (Internet Protocol).

From the end-users’ perspective, this is a huge value addition because with solutions from Richards-Zeta, they can not only upgrade the existing legacy systems but also tie enterprise data with building automation data for better control and performance efficiencies across a portfolio of buildings.

“From a technology standpoint,” says Doug Smith, Director of Sales and Marketing with Richards-Zeta, “this is a giant leap forward in the direction of the logical evolution of building systems, with the parallel evolution of Internet and wireless technologies.” While most manufacturers are still trying to align their products and solutions along one of the BAS industry-driven protocols, Richards-Zeta believes that the single communication technology that is going to drive the future of building automation is IP (Internet Protocol).

To give concrete shape to this vision, the company has partnered with Cisco Systems, Inc. and Panduit in early 2005. This strategic partnership brings the capabilities of Cisco and Panduit in networking, structured cabling solutions and Power over Ethernet (PoE) respectively to the table for Richards-Zeta. Leveraging these competencies, Richards-Zeta can now offer complete IP centric solutions for more efficient resource utilization, thus adding tremendous value to its clients. This is a definite step testifying the company’s contribution as a technology accelerator towards the direction of the logical future of the industry. The strategic partnership between Richards-Zeta, Cisco and Panduit is a reflection on the major paradigm shift the industry is witnessing in real time, and evidence that the direction of the market is moving rapidly towards the adoption of IP as the future platform for intelligence buildings.

Partnering with clients to create innovative growth strategies, "Richards-Zeta’s revolutionary platform not only facilitates simplification of the process of connectivity and integration, it also makes building management easier for the consumers" says Sapan Agarwal, industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan.

"Richards-Zeta’s strategic partnership brings the capabilities of Cisco and Panduit in networking, structured cabling solutions and Power over Ethernet (PoE) respectively to play in favor of its customers." adds Agarwal.

Richards-Zeta’s revolutionary platform not only facilitates simplification of the process of connectivity and integration, it also makes building management easier for the end-user. For Richards-Zeta, this translates into staying ahead of the competition.
